bookishfame Walking Spirit in a Native Way ~ White Mocs on the Red Road November 14, 2025    Book Reviews   Walking Spirit in a Native Way BOOK: Walking Spirit in a Native Way by James B. Beard As an avid reader who reads a lot of spiritual non-fiction, I was struck by how personal and deeply sincere this narrative feels. Beard recounts his transformation from a conventional “three-piece suit” life into a path guided by Native teachings, and the honesty with which he describes this shift makes the storytelling accessible. These interactions are filled with small moments—quiet car rides, probing questions, ceremonial duties—that accumulate into profound realizations about humility, service, and identity. Even if you’re unfamiliar with Ojibwe traditions, the narrative builds a gentle on-ramp, allowing readers to feel their way th...

I am thankful today to remember all veterans! Veterans Day is not about war to me!

I believe that when a person stands up to defend others who they believe are being offended, be it human or otherwise, it is an act of chivalry . Those acts often come to light in battles and yet it can be as simple as offering water to a passing wanderer. Those that are veterans have put themselves in situations that protect all life.   Jithu / influencer to James Beard 11/06/2025 Hello sir My team of 13 members did reviews for your book Sharing all the 13 reviews here 1. Walking Spirit in a Native Way: White Mocs on the Red Road is a thoughtful reflection on a spiritual journey that is both personal and culturally significant. James B. Beard, known as Noodin, describes the path he walked under the guidance of an Ojibwe Elder, capturing with respect the essence of Indigenous teachings. His narrative is not rushed or embellished but grounded in humility and the slow unfolding of understanding. What stands out is the book’s emphasis on listening and learning rather than claiming ownership of sacred knowledge. Noodin demonstrates sincerity in how he approaches each teaching, mistake, and realization. The story invites readers to reflect deeply on how wisdom is carried, shared, and lived. 2. This book offers insight into a rare and meaningful apprenticeship between a non-Native learner and an Ojibwe Elder. James Be...
