Honouring those that honour you!

Honouring those that honour you! by James B. Beard, author     anishinaabe water walkers Authors note: The feeling I had as I watched the people pack and leave the ceremonial area after Spring Ceremonies in Manitoulan Island.   They are going home today!   They came to visit with the people honouring them. On the first night they visited some of the people in the ode swan / sweat-lodge, and helped the people to heal. The next morning 🌅 the people gathered to greet the sun and a new day. A new 🆕 day, a new beginning. They were pleased to see all the people gathered to honour them. There would be much work for them to do to help the people. They listened to the prayers and intentions of the people and were happy. As the ishkode 🔥/ fire awoke, they came to stand amongst the people. They watched as the people worked to make preparations to ask for renewal and oshkibimadzwin🧬 / new life. All the people did, was to honour them and prepare, they the people, for renewal...

Ancient Celtic Sweat Lodges • Scotland, the Islands & Ireland

Image
Ancient Celtic Sweat Lodges • Scotland, the Islands & Ireland Geromy Gordon is in Orkney Islands. February 11 at 2:19 PM  · Many people are surprised to learn that the Celtic peoples of Scotland, the Hebridean islands, and Ireland had their own form of sweat lodge. These small stone structures were used for healing, purification, and sometimes before important events or seasonal changes. The old belief was that steam could cleanse the body and spirit, and help restore balance. In Irish Gaelic they are called Teach Allais (“house of sweat”), and in Scottish Gaelic Taigh-fallais. Archaeological evidence shows many of these sweat houses date to the medieval period, with some sites possibly going back as early as around 500–800 AD. Most surviving examples were in use from the 1600s–1800s as part of traditional folk healing. These stone huts were small and low, built to hold heat and steam from hot stones and water. They were often located near streams or wells...

DECEPTION ~ Poem by James Beard aka Noodin

DECEPTION ! Photo by: James B Beard aka Noodin Deer is still Every sound a sign A stick that snaps Deer are running  Wolf pauses in his step Every scent is telling A foe might be present Wolf is on the move  Trees are bending Bows break and miss-shape What was up is down What was calm is disturbed  Wind is blowing Messages travel Leaves swirl Invisible motion  Snake slithers in the grass Silent and foreboding Curled up under a rock Ready to strike  Earth seems to move Shadows fool the ground A stream takes new form Everything changes  Crow calls loudly Gathering the murder What do they hide Following the motion  Blue Jay sounds an alarm Something is coming What does he know Does anyone hear  Eagle looks down Watches all things Watches all things Watches all things   January 26, 2018  Noodin GET THE MESSAGE OUT! Honoring the Spirit of the Fire ~ Honoring the Spirit of Native American Traditions

Image
Honoring the Spirit of the Fire Honoring the Spirit of Native American Traditions By: Cheryl Roth ~ http://nhfaithfusion.com/2015/10/native-american/ Earlier this week I was invited to a Native American fire circle. I really didn’t know what to expect but I said yes right away. As a matter of fact I didn’t even completely read the description my friend sent me, I trusted her, and the first four words sounded good to me: “  To honor all life , all Veterans and warriors, all people, and all those who are traveling to the next realm. Sit by the fire and share in the stories told by the Native American Elders and by the storytellers. Come and hear stories told to share the values that sustain a culture.” Hidden Beauty and Virtue As I drove through the countryside just west of Manchester toward my friends house I marveled at the life that is hidden in these woods. Sometimes I feel like living in New Hampshire is like being part of some secre...

Finding Life Balance

Image
This is what I see! These days it is hard to know what is real and what is not. Our leaders seem to be focused on dividing the people. The age-old battle cry of, divide and conquer, seems to be the current political effort to change the world we live in. Distraction, false information, blaming, and name calling are all part of this recipe. Are we, the people, supposed to choose sides? The news media and method of getting the news out is another modern-day dilemma. Each news media presents their story differently and often focuses on one or two headliners while disregarding the other news at hand. More often than not it seems that the media is responding to political pressure in their reporting. Who do you believe?  Now, include AI, Artificial Intelligence, or more correctly I think, Altered Intelligence. Articles and stories are now being put out through social media, printed media, and other sources that have no basis of truth. Many of these are actually insulting to anyone...
