I am thankful today to remember all veterans! Veterans Day is not about war to me!

I believe that when a person stands up to defend others who they believe are being offended, be it human or otherwise, it is an act of chivalry. Those acts often come to light in battles and yet it can be as simple as offering water to a passing wanderer. Those that are veterans have put themselves in situations that protect all life. They do not have to be soldiers. Some are doctors, nurses, caretakers, police, firemen, ambulance drivers or just neighbors and yes even strangers. We are not honoring our strength as warriors. We are honoring our best qualities of humanity.

Chivalry: An old word not much used in this world today:

Modern chivalry has evolved from medieval knightly codes to a broader set of actions based on mutual respect, kindness, and honor, applicable to all gendersIt includes simple courtesies like holding a door for anyone, but also more meaningful acts such as standing up for what is right, being honest, or showing support for a friend or partner. The emphasis is less on rigid gender roles and more on thoughtful behavior that benefits anyone who might need it.
