About writing a sequel to "Walking Spirit in a Native Way ~ White Mocs on the Red Road"
readers have asked if there would be a sequel.
There is an alternative to publishing a sequel. It would be to write the sequel on a blog and give it away. No advertisements, publishing as you write, no member fees, editable on a continuing basis, no restrictions to the reader other than copyright. In that way, as an author, the story is told and the audience can access it anytime they want. If the readership grows strong and positive it can be published at little cost as an eBook on Amazon.
Why consider the alternative?
Producing the first book has been an interesting adventure. Many people have indicated that they have benefited from the content and sharing offered. People have enjoyed reading the chapters and teachings shared. The book has also benefited many in the book publishing and marketing field.
For me, the reward of sharing the adventures and lessons learned from my teacher cannot be valued through any monetary standpoint. I am a better person because of the teachings given from my elder and experiences that occurred. Of this, there is no doubt. I cannot put a price on that! I take pride in sharing lessons that can benefit others and that pride is in the sharing.
The concern comes from a nuts and bolts mechanism of the book industry for an unknown author. I never expected to become wealthy from my writing. I write because I have been inspired to share what little I know. It is not about money.
That being said, it would be nice to put out the message I have to share, without having to support everyone else financially. There is a lot of money in the publishing industry. The global book publishing market for 2025 is estimated to be between 125 to 150 billion dollars. As an unknown author I made a contribution to the book publishing and marketing industry.
What do I mean by that? This is what it cost an author, at least this author, to write and publish a book.
6 months to a year to write the book
6 months editing and sharing manuscripts with people of influence to approve. IE: Elders and reviewers.
8 months Getting the book made ready and published ($10,000)
Reviewers to asses the book and post reviews ($100.00 x 5 = $500.00) Many of the reviews are likely AI , which I detest!
Professional marketers to refine Advertising ($550.00)
Book shows recommended by the publisher (7,500.00)
Book marketing scammers! Probably the majority of them. ($400.00)
TOTAL TO DATE 2025 - $18,950 RESIDUALS TO DATE 2025 - $360.00 @Fulton Book sales posted quarterly
Book sale residual to author $3.50 per book average
Perhaps future book sales will help to offset all of that. That is the hope!
So what do you think?
