| James B. Beard—known to many as Noodin—is an author, storyteller, and speaker whose work is rooted in more than thirty years of learning from Ojibwe/Chippewa Elders and other Algonquin‑speaking peoples of the Great Lakes Region. His life and teachings center on traditional living, natural spirit teachings, and the search for balance in a fast‑moving world. Guided early in his journey by an Ojibwe elder, James has walked a path shaped by humility, service, and a deep respect for the original teachings that once guided all peoples. His work bridges cultural understanding and personal transformation, offering audiences a grounded, accessible way to reconnect with values that foster wellness, gratitude, and harmony with the natural world. James has shared these teachings in schools, colleges, tribal communities, and public gatherings across the United States and Canada. His experience also includes years as a park ranger, interpreter, and wilderness responder—roles that deepened his connection to land‑based wisdom and the healing power of nature. He is the author of Walking Spirit in a Native Way ~ White Mocs on the Red Road, a memoir of spiritual awakening and cultural learning. |
